Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Played Together helps tabletop gamers find local game nights and connect with people who love the same games. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain-English on purpose.
Information We Collect
We only collect what we need to run the app:
- Account details — your name and email address, so you can sign in and other members can recognize you.
- Location — the general area you're in, so we can show you nearby events and players. Sharing your location is optional and you control it.
- Game preferences — the games on your shelf, wishlist, and the genres you enjoy.
- Play history — the plays you log, including ratings, reviews, photos, and the friends you tag.
- Content you create — posts, comments, messages, events you host, and anything else you choose to share.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to make the app work and make it useful:
- Connect you with gamers who share your taste in games.
- Show you board game nights and events near you.
- Let you log plays, track your collection, and share them with friends.
- Send you account-related emails, like password resets and event updates.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't show you third-party advertising based on it.
Location Data & Privacy
Location is one of the most sensitive things we handle, so we're careful with it. When you enable location, we store a general point for you and use it to sort events and players by distance.
We fuzz your exact location and never share your real coordinates. Other members only ever see an approximate area (like your city or a rough distance) — never your precise GPS point or home address. Exact coordinates for an event are only revealed once you're an accepted attendee.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a few trusted services to run Played Together. Each receives only the data it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — our database and file storage, where your account and content are securely kept.
- Railway — our hosting provider, which runs the application servers.
- Google OAuth — an optional way to sign in with your Google account. We only receive your basic profile and email.
- Amazon Associates — powers the “Buy Game” links throughout the app (see the disclosure below).
- Resend — delivers our transactional emails, such as password resets and event notifications.
Amazon Affiliate Disclosure
Played Together is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you buy a game through a “Buy Game” link in the app, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. It helps keep the lights on and never affects the price you pay.
How to Delete Your Account
You're always in control of your data. To permanently delete your account, go to Settings → Privacy and choose “Delete Account.” This removes your profile, plays, posts, and personal information from our systems. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
If you'd rather we handle it for you, email us at the address below and we'll take care of it.
Children's Privacy
Played Together is intended for people aged 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
